The Crawford Chamber of Commerce is starting the New Year off with a busy schedule and some changes to their board. Lynne Watkins has taken on the Presidency and she’s joined by Cathy Cheatham as Treasurer, Donna Cochran at Secretary and Susan Ayer who will fill the Vice President position along with heading up their marketing & advertising committee. Also on the Board are Angele Rodstrom, Jenny Mitchell and Connie Layton.
The Chamber board has spent the last few months working on a new promotional brochure that is currently being distributed around the state, at visitor and welcome centers. Local distribution of the brochure will include a map that shows the location of their business members and they’re planning an advertising campaign to help promote their members, as well.
Plans are underway for the annual Old Timers/New Comers dinner, to be held Feb. 4th at the Crawford School. This is a well attended tradition in Crawford and while many residents attend to visit with old friends and meet new ones, it’s also an opportunity for local businesses to showcase their products and services. The Chamber Board will be providing meatloaf and drinks and guests are requested to bring a side dish to share. Presentation of awards for Business of the Year, Non-Profit of the Year and Volunteer of the Year will be made at the gathering.
Kim Wasilkowich, Chairman of the Pioneer Days Committee, reported, at the January meeting, that plans are well underway for the annual Pioneer Days celebration. This year’s event will be held on June 7, 8, 9 & 10 and the theme will be “The Wild West – Boots, Hats & Vests”. The committee is seeking volunteers for an assortment of chores. To sign up just contact the chamber at 970 921-4000.
